The library at KIS endeavours to provide KIS staff and students
a space that encourages rigorous research, furthers digital
and information literacy and also promotes reading for fun and
enjoyment. The library has 11 computers for student use, a
photocopier, and one browsing centre for students to search
the library catalog. In the Fiction section there are over
4,000 books!
The library works to have accurate and up-to-date information
for research projects, by providing a variety of digital
sources such as Encyclopaedia Britannica online and EBSCO
Academic Search Elite, and a diverse collection of reference
books. To support the International population at the school,
within the library’s physical collection there is a World
Language library which includes books in Tamil, Bengali,
Hindi, Dzongkha, Korean, Thai, German, French, Spanish and
Japanese. Within the 2011-2012 school year an arts library
will be developed to provide and enhance information sources
about Drama, Film, Music, Visual Art and Dance.
The library is also dedicated to educating the staff and
students of KIS about digital and information literacy. A
class is taught at the 9th and 11th
grade level that teaches skills in finding information both on
the World Wide Web, and in the physical library, as well as
how to properly cite a variety of sources in academic research
papers.
