KIS Library
The library at KIS endeavors to provide KIS staff and students a space that encourages rigorous research, furthers digital and information literacy, sustain interest and appreciation in physical books, and also promote reading for fun and enjoyment. There are two libraries at KIS- one at the Highclerc campus that serves the High School community, and
another library at the Ganga campus that serves the elementary
and middle school community.
Both libraries works to have accurate and up-to-date
information for research projects, by providing a variety of
digital sources such as Encyclopaedia Britannica online and
EBSCO Academic Search Elite, and a diverse collection of
reference books. For the elementary school and middle school
there are also resources like BrainPop, TumbleBooks, and
elementary and middle school levels of Encyclopaedia
Britannica online.
To support the diverse and International population at the
school, within the both the libraries physical
collection there is a World Language library which includes
Indian language books in Tamil, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada,
Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, and Telugu, and also
International language book in Dzongkha, Korean, Thai, German,
French, Spanish and Japanese. Within the 2011-2012 school year
an arts library will be developed at the high school library
to provide and enhance information sources about Drama, Film,
Music, Visual Art and Dance.
The library is also dedicated to educating the staff and
students of KIS about digital and information literacy, and
also about the value of physical books. From kindergarten
through grade 12, students are brought into the library for
library education on a regular basis. The library is dedicated
to educating students and staff about digital literacy and
safety, how to find proper resources for research projects,
and how to properly cite and document sources. Also,
students are taught about how to find book resources in the
library, and in the future will also be introduced to art of
bookmaking.
